Hispanic Heritage Association of Northwest Louisiana

The Hispanic Heritage Association of Northwest Louisiana was established in 2021 with the objective of creating an association devoted to the progression and development of Hispanics in the region, including culture, education, health, sports, business, arts, and more, through events and partnerships with other associations.

Events for 2023

Mardi Gras – February 19th

For the very first time, HHA partnered with the State Fair of Louisiana at Krewe of Highland Parade and had a float that brought more exposure to the Latin community, where over a dozen Latinos shared their music, culture, and thousands of souvenirs given to the crowd.

April 15th – Heroes Good Health Walk & Health Fair

This health fair event is being held in partnership with Sigma Nursing (Beta Chi Chapter), NSU College of Nursing and School of Allied Health, The Salvation Army Boys & Girls Club and focuses on providing basic health related information and services to the community.

May 20th – Hispanic Teachers Appreciation Day

An event dedicated to recognizing the hard work, social impact, and lasting legacy of our Hispanic teachers, as they shape our children’s education. This event will be held at Artspace and sponsored by M&N Concrete, SRAC, DDA, and San Miguel Mexican Restaurant.

June 3rd – Little Entrepreneur

This event gives young entrepreneurs from ages 6 to 15 a chance to set up and run a retail stand and learn about how to run a business, including accounting, marketing, taxes, competitors, etc.

September 16th – Hispanic Heritage Festival

One of the most enjoyable Hispanic events in Shreveport, this festival provides an opportunity for our melting pot of cultures to mingle in an atmosphere filled with live music, dancing, delicious cuisine, all while surrounded by the delightful setting of our very own Shreveport Aquarium and beautiful riverfront.

October 29th – Latino Day at the State Fair

The official State Fair for Louisiana and one of the biggest fairs in the nation celebrates Latino Day, providing an opportunity for local Hispanic vendors to showcase their products and services, and for local artists to perform on a big and professional stage, opening up at concerts for international bands. This event brings thousands of Latinos from all over the region, providing exposure, networking, and fun to all who attend and are part of this amazing event.

November 4th – Day of the Dead

For the very first time, HHA will celebrate The Day of the Dead with a festival that brings together a lot of culture and tradition, as well as music, food, fun, and a Catrina and Altar contest.

December – Noche de Gala

A formal event dedicated to recognizing the individuality and uniqueness of influential Hispanic individuals in the Northwest Louisiana region. The event is designed to give guests a delightful and one-of-a-kind setting to enjoy meeting other local business owners, politicians, and community leaders, all while enjoying great live entertainment, delicious food, and much more.
